Movie Sermon

At Life Fellowship we have five core beliefs that we as a church corporately believe in. We are all in unity on the value of these truths and ensure that everything that happens is in alignment with these.

1. THE PERFECTION OF THE BIBLE.
It is the full and final authority on all faith matters.

2 Timothy 3:16-17
16 All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. 17 God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.

This is the book that everything we believe and do at Life Fellowship is based on. We believe that the two main sections in the Bible (the Old and New Testaments) were given to us by God, and the principles of the Bible should shape the way we live.

1 Thessalonians 2:13
Therefore, we never stop thanking God that when you received his message from us, you didn’t think of our words as mere human ideas. You accepted what we said as the very word of God—which, of course, it is. And this word continues to work in you who believe.

2. THE DEITY OF JESUS.
The person of Jesus was and is totally God.

John 1:1, 14
1 In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God… 14 So the Word became human and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son.

He was fully God and fully human. In his divinity, He was and is equal with God the Father and Spirit. In his humanity, He embraced every human limitation but did not sin.

3. THE FUNCTION OF THE SPIRIT.
God’s Spirit is a real empowerment in our lives today.

Acts 10:38
And you know that God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. Then Jesus went around doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.

God has given us the Holy Spirit to help us to live for Him every day. The Holy Spirit connects people to Christ, and he equips Christ followers to grow spiritually and to share Christ with people who do not know Him.

1 Corinthians 12:4, 7-11
4 There are different kinds of spiritual gifts, but the same Spirit is the source of them all… 7 A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other. 8 To one person the Spirit gives the ability to give wise advices; to another the same Spirit gives a message of special knowledge. 9 The same Spirit gives great faith to another, and to someone else the one Spirit gives the gift of healing. 10 He gives one person the power to perform miracles, and another the ability to prophesy… 11 It is the one and only Spirit who distributes all these gifts. He alone decides which gift each person should have.

4. THE REALITY OF SALVATION.
Every person needs and can have a relationship with God.

Romans 3:22-23
22 We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are. 23 For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.

Romans 10:9-10
9 If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved.

A new relationship with God is totally a work of grace, through faith. It cannot be improved on through our obedience not should it be taken lightly and used as an excuse to sin more.

Titus 3:5
He saved us, not because of the righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He washed away our sins, giving us a new birth and new life through the Holy Spirit.

5. THE RELEVANCE OF THE CHURCH.
The church is God’s idea and is the hope of the world.

Ephesians 4:4-6
4 For there is one body and one Spirit, just as you have been called to one glorious hope for the future. 5 There is one Lord, one faith, one baptism, 6 and one God and Father, who is over all and in all and living through all.

God’s church is expressed globally and locally and should always be remembered that way. It is His church and it exists for worship, connection, outreach, growth and ministry.

This is what we believe and why it matters.
